The first team have had to wait three weeks and two false starts to finally get back in to some rugby, but the 5 point win came none the less.
Wellingborough managed to keep their fixture on last week amidst the frozen ground, so with a game under the belt they posed a tough start to the year.
The away team were dealt some solid tactical play by the Scouts pack and halfbacks, and then finesse from the backs to build a nice half time lead of 35-12.
With the first half showing the lack of rugby in gaps, all replacements were used and the evening resulted in a pleasing 54-24 win for the Scouts.
Kudos to Wellingborough for staying in the match and scoring at 77 minutes, but the difference in ability was clear to see and Scouts never really let them fully in to the game.
The Scouts have had a few fixtures re-arranged so there is a run now without breaks in to some key battles against Olney and then Lutterworth. Next game is Oadby Wyyggs away this Saturday.
